Hair Conditioners - Moroccanoil - Albuquerque Hair Salon

Are there conditioners better then others?
Are there natural ingredients (olive oil or coconut oil) that are good ingredients in conditioners?
What are the best conditioners available?
How often is hair conditioned?

Yes there are conditioners better then others; however, for the best results for your hair, it is best to first analyze what your hair needs – more volume, moisturizing, or just help combing through. It is always best to consult a professional stylist if you do not know what your hair needs are currently. More volume is obtained when an extra volume conditioner is used. If your hair is dry, it is always best to use a moisturizing conditioner. Combing through conditioners is usually named “De-tangle”. There are stipulations to using each of these conditioners and the rule of thumb is to use your better judgment to determine when your hair needs to be conditioned.

Argan oil is made from the actual nuts from the Argan tree, which almost solely grows in Morocco, is known to have restoration and age-defying effects. Argan oil is one of the best natural oils as it is highly rich in vitamins E and F, fatty acids, squalene, antioxidants, carotene, phytosterols, and phenolic compounds. Indeed, Argan oil has been clinically tested and proven to have miraculous results on hair.

We believe, in Albuquerque, Moroccanoil to be the best product on market today. We typically advise our clients to use the professional shampoos and conditioners, as

professional products have the correct PH balance for each hair type. Again, as a general rule, it is always best to consult your hair stylist for your type of hair and to suggest the correct type of shampoo and conditioner for you to use – and mainly, when it is best to use the products. It is also best practice to alternate shampoos and Conditioner, as hair, like anything else on the human body, remembers what you are currently using and tends compensate. In other words, your hair gets used to your hair products and you may not want those results.

Conditioner for Fine Hair
We recommend conditioning fine hair two times a week or as needed due to dryness. If your hair is damage, you can add conditioner only to the ends, as often as needed due to dryness. As an option, you could make a “home made de-tangle”, which consist of mixing a small hand bottle of filtered water with two table spoon of conditioner.
Conditioner for Medium or Thick Hair
For medium to thick hair you can use conditioner daily. You can also, add a deep condition treatment weekly as part of your hair care routine, (add the deep conditioner to your hair, middle shaft to ends, and place a plastic cap on your hair for about 7 to 10 minutes, rinse and style as usual).
Note: Always make sure you keep the conditioner away from your scalp in order to retain your current hair volume.

Remember: The day you use your deep conditioning treatment, your hair will lay flatter than normal; however, this is fine and temporary - after 1 wash, your hair will have more volume.

Brazilian Blowout - Hair Stylist - Albuquerque, NM

Lene Ramirez, of Uniquely Elegant Hair Salons, Albuquerque, is a Master Certified Stylist awarded by Brazilian Blowout®.   As of this date she is the only stylist in Albuquerque or NM New Mexico to have this certificate.

What is a Brazilian Blowout®?
Brazilian Blowout® is a smoothing treatment to smooth and redefine curls, waves and unwanted frizzy hair.  It also leaves your hair healthy, shiny and adds moisture.

People who have used Brazilian Blowout®
Many of the Hollywood actresses and world top models use Brazilian Blowout®. The count is unprecedented. Click on this link to see a few of the magazine covers.

Considering a smoothing treatment?
When considering a smoothing treatment, Brazilian Blowout® brand is the better choice.  If Brazilian Blowout® brand is done correctly, it will leave your hair feeling healthy, with no breakage to your hair and no new growth breakage, as Brazilian Blowout® brand has keratin that repairs tiny cracks and fractures on individual hair follicles before sealing each follicle.

Also, when considering a smoothing treatment, it is very important to know the product and the brand your salon is using.  Be sure that the product is truly the Brazilian Blowout® brand.  You may also want to make sure the stylist is certified for using the Brazilian Blowout® brand.  Your hair salon should also direct you to the after care products, which, more than likely, include sulfate free Shampoo and Conditioner.

Difference between a relaxer and a Smoothing treatment
If you are wondering the difference between a relaxer and a Smoothing treatment/Brazilian Blowout®; a relaxer is a chemical that straightens your hair permanently and needs to be done every 6 to 8 weeks due to new growth.
Smoothing treatment/Brazilian Blowout® is a professional semi-permanent treatment that improves the health of the hair.  Brazilian Blowout®  uses Keratin which is a protein that restores luster and softness to all hair types.

The best quality of Brazilian Blowout® is you can still use your hair slightly curly or straight with less styling time.  Brazilian Blowout® is the only Brand of smoothing treatment that does not require maintenance with new hair growth.

What you may not know about Brazilian Blowout®
In the many Brazilian Blowouts we have done, it is amazing the amount of clients that do not know this helpful fact.  You can add color to your hair or add highlights to your hair on the same day, just before you get you Brazilian Blowout® done; Which means, you can have everything done to your hair on the same appointment - in effect, this will save time – your time.

Importantly, when you do get a Brazilian Blowout® on the same day following your hair color or hair highlights, Brazilian Blowout® will seal in your color or highlight nicely, and in the days to come, your hair color or highlight will fade less and your hair will shine more.

Please note: If you do decide to color your hair or highlight hair after you have had a Brazilian Blowout®; you must allow a two week waiting period, as your hair needs a chance to close fully to accept the new color properly.

So, there you have it!
To recap, Brazilian Blowout® is the best smoothing treatment on the market. Always ask your stylist questions concerning the products they are using to smooth your hair.  Try to use stylists that are Brazilian Blowout® certified.  You can have your hair colored on the same day, just before your Brazilian Blowout®.  If you add color to your hair after a Brazilian Blowout®, you need to wait 2 weeks for your hair to accept the color properly.

Rockabilly Hairstyles - Albuquerque

Rockabilly, pin-up, psychobilly, greasers, dapper dans  - we've all heard of these names. For most, it's a lifestyle and to others it is a hobby. Dressing up like you walked straight out of the 1950's. Rockabilly is one of the earliest styles of rock and roll music, dating to the early 1950s in the United States. As a genre it blends the sound of American folk and Western musical styles, such as country and bluegrass, with that of rhythm and blues, leading to what is considered "classic" rock and roll. Some have also described it as a blend of the bluegrass style with rock and roll. The term "Rockabilly" itself is a portmanteau of "rock" (from "rock 'n' roll") and "hillbilly", the latter a reference to the country music (often called "hillbilly music" in the 1940s and 1950s) that contributed strongly to the style's development. Other important influences on rockabilly include western swing and boogie woogie. Today it is a way of life for most and a way to get dolled up and hit the town. Many of us rockabillies dress this way every day of our lives, and others dress for an event, party or a vintage car show. Looking “The Part” is just as important. So there is a brief history lesson in how this culture got started.

Sure you found that perfect rockabilly outfit for your themed party or you’re getting ready for the annual vintage car show, but what about your hairstyle? One can go many routes when deciding the perfect “dew” to go with your outfit. The first question one must ask; that is if this isn't your everyday look, are you going for a traditional pin-up look or do you want to be outrageous and go for a wild Rockabilly look? For ones who are new to this culture if your dressing more vintage/classic then you will want a traditional pin-up look i.e.: curls, finger waves, victory rolls etc... If you’re going a bit wilder look you will want bright colors to add depth to your victory rolls. Victory rolls can be worn in a variation of hairstyles, one classic way is to have to barrel rolls at the top of your head with beautiful perfect curls that fall around the rest of your head. Now add bright vivid colors to your hair and your victory rolls become elaborate swirls of color. You can mix up the victory roll by altering the placement of the rolls are on your head. Classic curls are always a safe way to go if you’re not used to the rolls. Big curls can be brushed to give you a very elegant classic look. Finger waves are beautiful and classic but can be a bit trickier for the armature pin-up. Best way to know what you are looking for would be to go on a Web search and type in pin-up images to decide which one you would like to try. After you have found the one that catches your eye, save the image and show your hair stylist. With the right hairstyle you will be the hit of your party or could even win best pin-up at the car show.

I mentioned earlier, greasers and dapper dans, these are what men are called in this culture. Greasers are your car guys and wear a sleek pompadour that looks well-greased.  Dapper dans are the guys who dress in slacks and dress shirts love cars but go more for the sophisticated look they usually wear a gentleman's cut. Men need the right precise cut to pull off either of these looks. A pompadour is a fade up the scalp, with the hair on the crown of the head longer this helps them achieve the pomp. Psychobilly guys go for the extreme pomp extending no less than 6 inches of the head!  Wow, 6 inches!!! A gentleman's cut is a very neat and tight cut that has a really heavy pay with a low pomp in the front. Rockabilly guys and gals require a bit more attention to detail when it comes to their hairstyles and need a knowledgeable hair stylist who knows this culture well. Ask your local Albuquerque hair salon today about getting your rockabilly style started, because your hair says it all.
